The Antique Lady Painting

Watercolor on Paper

She put it on the windowsill
to show her friend
who sells antiques.
"It's old," Grandma's friend said.
"Civil War."

Comments
This painting is one of my favorites from the book.  Not because I like how it turned out, though I do, but because it is a painting of my friend's mom and the fun I had painting it.

I  knew immediately on thumbnailing the manuscript, that I wanted to use Mrs. Tanner as the Antique Lady.  In the sketch for this painting you can even tell it's supposed to be her.

I ended up using the REAL antique lady as the "grandmother" for the book!
