This is actually a composite of two different paintings inside the book. The process of creating the cover was a long one and many different conceptions were tried. Once all the art was complete for the book, it was decided that the central image was the encapsulation of everything the book was about. Realizing that, it became a design problem to solve: what do you put behind it, etc. (See the sketch for the original ideas about the cover)
