Our hotel in Florence had an unbelievable view from the rooftop terrace. One block away was the Duomo, a stunning building. One afternoon, around 7pm, we witnessed a major thunderstorm passing directly overhead, while under the ledge of the roof. We actually saw lightning strike the top of the Baptistery 100 yards away--one of the most indelible memories of the trip.
