Butterflies Jacket art for "The Art
of the Long View" by Peter Schwartz -- Personal
Project
Watercolor on paper
Problem:
A very intriguing
book, it describes a very unconventional view of
long-range planning. Instead of extrapolating a trend
from current information, the author tells imaginative
stories about possible futures and discusses the
ramifications of each to arrive at a course of action.
Solution:
One of the key
points the author stresses is how unusual visions of the
future can lead to beautiful insights. I decided to take
the idea literally. The floating pairs of eyes become a
butterfly, the only real color in the piece.
This is another
personal piece that seems to be taking my work in another
direction, a simplier, more immediate impact.
